A long tradition supported by great fervour, enthusiasm and passion. A tradition that was established many years ago and which is to last well into the future. When we are in our workshop, we feel the scents of leather, understand the tiny but countless secrets of this art, witness the 30 and more different processing stages and look at the over 50 different materials used to make just one shoe. This is when we all get very passionate. Our complex processes aim to enhance and care for a refined and exclusive look. It is thanks to people who can appreciate and fully understand this craft that artisans like us are still to be found. We firmly hold onto the old traditions which have been passed on from generations throughout the centuries so that they do not get lost. Our shoes are meant to be exactly for those people. People who value the wearing of artisan shoes besides the visual enjoyment of looking at them. A true personal and “secret” feeling arouses when hand-made shoes are worn. We think that our craftsmanship is firstly an artistic achievement before being an artisan representation, each shoe resembling a desire for perfection, love for tradition, a longing for elegance, and care for details. This is our philosophy. Always.
Once upon a time there was just one way to make clothes and clothing accessories, that was by hand. In the old days hours, days and even months were needed in order to create such works of art. Today, we simply continue that tradition and create our shoes following the same principles and criteria as the old craftsmanship of Goodyear and the Norway The making of shoes is not only the result of experience but also the reproduction of a true culture of the shoe. Everything is made by skilled artisans respecting the timing imposed by the manual dexterity of the old days. Each single piece of leather is very special with its own story and we need to know this in depth if we want to respect its uniqueness and make it into the perfect shape we have designed it for. Following a careful selection, we primarily use Italian calf leather, English chamois leader, French box-calf or among the most highly demanded leather types, we opt for crocodile and ostrich and also python or the American shell cordovan, of which one piece is used to make only one pair of shoes. An artisan tradition which has always been regarded as art. This is the story of the Scafora family: over half a century of commitment, passion and dexterity in the making of long-lasting, high-quality leather articles. |
